Elisa Honkanen is native of the Finnish lake district characterized by crystal clear lakes and dense forests. She has gained experience in Milan, Paris and London working for well-known designers and architects such as Piero Lissoni, Patrick Norguet, David Chipperfield Architects and Foster+Partners.
Her work has been exhibited in several international furniture fairs including Milan, Paris, Stockholm, Berlin and Taipei, and she has got recognition by gaining Faces of Design Award 2010 (shared first prize in Berlin, Germany), and Interieur Design Awards 2012 (first prize for her Purist chair in Kortrijk, Belgium).
Studio Elisa Honkanen is specialised in furniture and product design with strong experience in both developing industrial products together with the manufacturers, as well as drawing bespoke furniture for architecture. Form language is minimal nordic with notes of her experience in Italy, France and UK. Research for new materials and techniques is important part of the work, not for the sake of novelty, but to understand where the industry is moving and to be able to design better products with longer lifespan.
